Capitolini Museum
The world’s first public museum, “Capitolini Museum”, displays a vast and impressive collection of ancient Roman sculptures. The “Capitolina Venus” and “The Galata” are featured here, along with well known, important bronze sculptures such as the huge equestrian statue of emperor Marcus Aurelius. It also hosts an exquisite collection of paintings by Caravaggio, Pietro da Cortona and Tizian.
Frescoed halls where senators and magistrates of the city worked for centuries, allow us to imagine walking in their footsteps centuries ago. A walk through the ancient Roman archive, gives an incredible view of the Roman forum with temples, basilicas, the Senate and the main road used in that period.

Caravaggio in Rome
Michelangelo Merisi (1571-1610), known as Caravaggio, is considered one of the greatest Italian painters. Appian way
All the ancient Roman roads were sites for catacombs, mausoleums, and cemeteries as well as villas, noble palaces, hostels and farm houses. The Appian Way is called the “Queen of the Roman road” because it is the best preserved. The tour will show you amazing catacombs with miles of underground tunnels and graves. We will visit the huge Saint Paul Basilica, dedicated to the Patron Saint of Rome. At the Massenzio Palace we will see the tomb of a Roman noble woman, Cecilia Metella. You will also walk upon the original Appian Way (IV century B.C.) and pass through the massive Roman city Walls.

Underground Rome
There is another journey into the city underground that gives a voice to ancient times, from the beginning of Rome to the Middle Ages. Our tour begins with the beautiful Saint Clemente basilica with its 2 underground levels, including temples, houses, and stores of the first century A.D. We continue with the Roman houses under San Giovanni e Paolo Basilica, where frescoes, mosaics and old chapels remain – all well preserved. To complete the underground exploration of Rome, this tour will conclude with a visit to Saint Sebastian catacombs, with its 7 miles of tunnels and graves.

Circo Maximus and Jewish ghetto
This tour combines Ancient and Modern Rome. It begins outside of the Colosseum and continues through the huge Circus Maximus -oldest and largest in the Roman world. This was the location used for races, and implicated in the murder of thousands of Christians during the persecutions. We make a brief stop at the famous “Mouth of the Truth”, to place your hands inside! We’ll arrive in the Jewish ghetto where you can admire the Marcello theatre, built by Julius Cesar, the Synagogue, the fish market, the narrow and traditional Roman streets with charming Jewish shops and businesses.

Borghese Gallery and via Veneto
With one of the most beautiful baroque villas and art collections in the world, the Borghese Gallery is the finest example of clergy and noble life in seventeenth century Italy. It was built to host the art collection of the Cardinal Scipione Borghese, who collected antiquities, as well as contemporary art. On this tour we can walk through decorated halls with mosaic floors, frescoed ceilings, antique furniture, Greek and Roman sculptures, and Raphael and Caravaggio’s paintings.
